Today, we headed up to Den Haag to visit a fren who just became a daddy :) since we were there, i thought we should bring kaira to the beach nearby. The last time we were there, it was in Nov 08 and it was way tooooo cold to enjoy the beach.

Kaira loves babies and forgetful me, as usual, i forgot to take a picture of her and the baby!!! haizzz.

But we did take some shots @ the beach ;)

She was content to just play with the sand. And was reluctant to go anywhere near the water!!! even though she loves playing with water at home and at the pool....guess this is her first real encounter with the "beach", waves and all ..... so it took her quite a while to warm up to the idea. And by the time she did, it was time for us to go home!!

Guess, that's reason to have another beach outing soon before the cold weather sets in.

3rd time @ the Eindhoven Hot Air Balloon Festival

I kind of look forward to the annual Eindhoven Hot Air Balloon festival as it's like a "marker" for me :) cos we attended the 2008 balloon festival a couple of weeks after we first arrived.

Time flies, this is our 3rd time, which means kaira and I are embarking on our 3rd year here.

She enjoyed this year's event very much and was very captivated by the hot-air balloon. Kept telling me that she wants to go up on the balloon as well.

Hopefully we will have the chance to do it one day (here or elsewhere!).

Believe it or not, i took the public bus here in eindhoven for the very FIRST TIME today! ;p

惭愧 惭愧 ;p

when i first arrived here, i have a rather bad impression of the public bus service here. as in (1) long waiting times (at least 15 mins if i don't time it correctly). (2) there is only ONE bus serving my area. i think they use a "hub and spoke" system, so for me to get to another part of eindhoven, i have to take the bus to the centrum and switch to another. seems such a waste of time and troublesome.

anywayz, with my bicycle i can easily access the usual places that i need to go so i saw little need to take the public bus.

but i kept thinking to myself that i must take the bus at least once lah!! kekeke.

today's a good chance since hubbie was going to have drinks in the city centre. so i arranged to meet him there. and instead of me cycling there, i took the bus with kaira.

it costs me 2.40euros one way. expensive! how i miss hong kong public transport ;) and good thing i checked the bus schedule online and timed my arrival at the bus stop such that we didn't have to wait more than a minute for the bus :) wellz, at least their bus time tables are reliable.

i don't have a habit of bringing my camera out with me......... must remember to do so the next time i take the bus! ;p

Cherry Cake

I seldom post pictures of my bakes.

but this is one yummylicious cake so i wanna blog it for memory's sake. and also this marks yet again, the season -- cherry is available here only in late spring/summer and when it's in season, i just cannot get enough it! they are so yummy! i dread the cold weather when all the delicious summer fruits are in hibernation ;( i am learning to enjoy the seasons with seasonal cooking as well!

Another Culinary Lesson

Today, thanks again to some friends, i learnt how to make 饺子 dumpling from scratch, skin and all.

it seems easy when there are a few pairs of hands making the dumplings. but i am sure, if i am to venture it alone, it's gonna be so time consuming and i am not sure if the end result will commensurate the effort ;p kekeke.

but wellz, at least now i know how to make it. it's just a matter of making it!! ;p

actually i would love to learn how to make 肉粽. i remember my grandma making them when i was a kid. and when she was too old, my mum did make them a couple of times..... but i guess it's quite a tedious process so over the years, we have succumbed to the convenience of buying them!!

mum -- if u r reading this -- maybe we should make 肉粽 when i am back in singapore!!! otherwise, the art of making it will be lost ;p and over here, it's really not a matter of choice -- if i want to eat, i better learn how to make it!!!

When i first signed kaira up for the PeuterSpeelzaal, i opted for 4times a week. But as there was no vacancy then, she started with 2x a week instead, with the understanding that it will increase the 4x when there is vacancy.

the teacher-in-charge told me last week that she can start her 4x a week classes after the summer holiday.

what was my response?

No, thank you. Let's stick to the 2x.

I hope i don't regret my decision!

i think my curiosity is aroused caused i was browsing some blogs and it dawned on me that there are many who leave comments on other blogs .... hehehehe.... and there seems to be a close-knit cyber community for those blogs.

so, just wondering who are my cyber friends?? ;p

I am Dancing

Outdated Post : 2 years in Eindhoven

I meant to post this earlier but alas, world cup and the summer heat resulted in a rather lethargic me ;p

we arrived here in eindhoven on 27 June 2008 when kaira was only a 7 month old baby. Now she's a active and talkative toddler!! How time flies.

When i first arrived, as seen from my posts then, i can't wait to leave here and move back to asia. hehehe..

Today, i think i would still like to relocate back to Asia...... but i am not sure my resolve is as strong as before. And also, is it really better to move??? i honestly don't know.

Granted there are inconveniences about life here and of course the lack of friends and family support -- but there are also some aspects of life here that i know we will not be able to enjoy if we are back in Asia. and frankly, over time, i have adjusted and have learnt to live with the "inconveniences" ;p

When (?) the Lord will bring us back to Asia i do not know. All i know is that i have told him my heart's desire -- that, ultimately, we would like to be back in Asia . It is now in His hands and His timing to bring about the move. I am learning to wait. To exercise patience. So that we move in sync with his perfect time. there is a chinese saying 天时地利 and it is apt to apply it here.

A move now is not just about whether there is a job. There truly is a myriad of other considerations.

Waiting is indeed a test of faith. We live in a world where we like to see results, fast! So, when we pray and God doesn't move, we think maybe He isn't there.

I believe He is. He Listens.

However, it is still difficult to wait. And our, in this case, my, response to the wait is important.

Do i go " Why Lord?" "Why not now?" "HOw can i get the results i want now?"
Do i allow doubts and fears to crowd my heart and crowd out my God?

Or do i take the time to go deeper in my relationship with Him. to understand His heart. to increase in my knowledge of Him. This is a so much more difficult route.

i know that many a times i am guilty of casting God aside. It is so easy to just be upset with God and cast complaints against him.

I hope i learn from the author of Lamentations.

Lamentations 3:22-25

Netherlands Is in the World Cup Final!

Woohooo ..... r we going to be part of a historic event come this sunday?? The last time they were in the WC finals was in 1974! (they lost to west german then)

Will they meet Germany or Spain this time round? Based on the performances so far, i'd say Germany (although my heart is with Spain).

i am waiting in anticipation for the final!
